An invasive plant species has taken root in another Valley lake, prompting a South Okanagan politician to ask it receive regular treatment from the Okanagan Basin Water Board.

The south end of Vaseux Lake near Sundial Road is becoming “choked off” by Eurasian milfoil, according to Terry Schafer, who represents Area C (rural Oliver) on the board of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.

“Apparently as you try to canoe out to the island, (milfoil) is right beside the canoe — it’s right to the top of the water,” he told colleagues at Thursday’s RDOS board meeting.
