Okanagan Wetlands Strategy – Workshop November 28

DID YOU KNOW…more than 85% of the Okanagan’s wetlands & natural riparian areas are gone? And, the remaining areas are at risk of loss.

We are developing an Okanagan Wetlands Strategy in partnership with BC Wildlife Federation and Regional District of Central Okanagan. JOIN US!

We are holding a workshop and open house on Thursday, Nov. 28 at Okanagan Regional Library, 1380 Ellis St., Kelowna (downtown branch) – South Meeting Room.

It begins with a focus group WORKSHOP from 1:30 to 4 PM – featuring Dick Cannings (biologist, birder and author), as well as representatives from BCWF, B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, and others.  *** NOTE: Workshop participants MUST RSVP to wetlands@ecoscapeltd.com.

The workshop will be followed by an OPEN HOUSE from 4 to 6PM.

We will be gathering information on Okanagan wetlands – what’s out there, what needs protection – and prioritize and identify stewardship opportunities.

Interactive mapping tools will be available for those who wish to identify wetland areas of concern. Ecoscape Environmental, the project consultant, will be available to assist with mapping, questions and collection of information.

If you can’t make the workshop or open house, please take a moment to complete a quick, but important, online survey at: http://tinyurl.com/q7f48nh.
