The District of Peachland adopted a Water Master Plan in April 2007, which identified the challenges, objectives and guiding principles surrounding water service delivery in Peachland. The first phase of the Water Master Plan involved developing water regulation bylaws, including rate structures and water allowances, and beginning flow monitoring and data compilation. Another component was the siting of new water supply and treatment facilities. Through this process and the subsequent Improved Water Management Using WEAP project, the District has greatly modernized and improved their water management. While several communities in the valley have now developed Water Management Plans, Peachland’s experience with implementing rate structure bylaws across different user sectors can be an example to other small communities.
