Commercial Water Audits Pilot Program

Project Year:

2009

Project Budget:

$15

WCQI Grant:

$9

Organization:
City of Penticton

Project Description:

The commercial water audits pilot project analyzed new water consumption data to determine potential commercial and residential water wasters.

This process identified 100 facililties and 75 residential owners who would most benefit from a water audit. Factors taken into consideration included comparing similar businesses, number of employees, past leaks, pressure zone, etc.

While most residential water-wasters could not be convinced of the value of saving water, 48 of 50 commercial water audits were carried out, with all commercial owners committing to implement at least one water conservation measure.
