Drought Management

Project Year:

2016

Project Budget:

$25,000

WCQI Grant:

$12,500

Organization:
City of Penticton

Project Description:

The aim of this project has been to address phase 1 of the Building Drought Resilience in the Okanagan report that identified actions that should be worked on immediately by Okanagan water utilities.

The City of Penticton worked with Associated Environmental to gather historical data from within the organization and developed a strategic plan along with a communication protocol to inform our customers how we are doing with storage, what the immediate future looks like, what we need to do to maintain water supply in the future and how we intend to achieve those goals in regards to a drought declaration. A decision-making guideline for each source water for moving between drought stages has also been developed.
