Regional Water Use and Conservation Bylaw‐Year One
Organization: Regional District Okanagan Similkameen
This study was to support phase I of the Region-Wide Water Use Regulation and Conservation Bylaw involved unifying the existing water bylaws within the RDOS. It innovatively looked at options for water efficiency, conservation, sustainable water management, cross connection control and drought management.
The RDOS has come to realize that the water regulation bylaw is not necessarily the appropriate place for some of their more innovative protection and conservation measures. The RDOS also found that the process to review, merge and edit the existing regional bylaws into one overall regional bylaw was very detailed and time consuming in order to ensure that the final project is what they were looking for.
