Water Educational Programming

Project Year:

2014

Project Budget:

$10,000

WCQI Grant:

$8,000

Organization:
Greater Vernon Water

Project Description:

This project developed youth educational programs to over 100 students in Grade 4-7 and their teachers in the North Okanagan on the topics of water sustainability, quality, and conservation as they relate to our local watershed. RDNO partnered with an educational organization that has experience in creating and presenting programs. In addition, it has connected youth with community resources and inspire students to take action in water sustainability. All programs have been linked to the BC curriculum.

The 3D model produced through this project has been gifted to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) so that it can be used as part of their Nature Trailer outreach program, which travels throughout the Okanagan Basin. The model is a valuable tool in helping people visualize the interconnectedness of our communities to our watersheds.
